I recently completed this course (after hearing about from Barbara Oakley's weekly newsletter) and I must say it has profoundly opened my mind. This course has equipped me with the essential skill of being open to opposing viewpoints, even if they sound extreme or ridiculous. It emphasizes the importance of listening and understanding different perspectives, which is crucial in today's polarized environment. The narration style is engaging and thought-provoking, making complex ideas accessible and relatable. The course is filled with compelling examples that challenged my thinking and encouraged deeper reflection on this topic specifically around suppression of valid/valuable information during COVID by (mis) labelling them as misinformation/missing context. One of the standout features is the extensive list of readings provided, which has been incredibly helpful in expanding my understanding of the subject. Additionally, the interviews included throughout the course offer valuable insights into various perspectives on free speech and the risks we face in preserving it. This course not only highlights the threats to free speech from various societal pressures but also empowers individuals like me to support and advocate for open dialogue. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to enhance their understanding of free speech and its vital role in our society.

This was a wonderful opportunity to extend my understanding of the benefits of free speech and how to foster it in communities. I learned far more than I ever expected and am motivated to put the recommended approaches into practice in my context (university professor and academic leader).

Fascinating subject, well presented and thoughtful. Makes me uneasy and uncertain, because it challenges many of my deep believes on how people should talk to each other. Highly recommended food for thought.

Muy didáctico. No encaja con el libre pensamiento el incluir a los EEUU como modelo de libre expresión, en un test, cuando los sucesos actuales lo alejan de ser un modelo de nada.

Most of the videos are repetitive, poorly scripted, and full of annoying AI slop. The examples are all twisted, e.g., Elon Musk as competent and talented leader. The discussions of censorship and government overreach deliberately avoid the history and present conditions in the U.S. The "guests" include bigots and reactionaries like Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I wouldn't go so far as to call this an actual course. It's just a cheaply made piece of right-wing propaganda.
